Midjourney vs. Flux 1: Which is better?
I just ran the test to find out.
Looks like the Flux project is worth the hype.
In this video I compare Midjourney, the long time favorite, against Flux 1.
I structured it like a 4-round bout, judging on:
– Realism
– Art style prompts
– General prompt coherence
– Text prompt coherence
Here’s what I discovered:
Round 1 – Realism :
I generated images of nature scenes and objects.
I found that Flux Pro consistently outperformed Midjourney, producing more realistic images.
Round 2 – Art Style Prompts:
I tested the ability of both generators to recreate specific artistic styles.
Midjourney excelled here, easily recreating the styles of famous painters.
Round 3 – Prompt Coherence:
I judged how well each generator followed my detailed instructions. There were mixed results, but in the end – Flux Pro took a slight edge, beating MidJourney 3 to 2.
Round 4 – Text Prompt Coherence:
Here, Flux shined with its ability to generate complex text layouts for multiple designs.
In summary:
Both generators had strengths.
Flux impressed me the most, soundly beating MidJourney in 2 out of 4, and then taking the victory in a third test as well.
And remember: Flux is open source.
